Salo is 20km from Desenzano. Desenzano is 45km from Verona. So if driving it is around 65km.

If you want to use public transportation, the train to Verona goes from Desenzano del Garda and I recommend that over the bus as it is faster and much more enjoyable (space and smoother ride). You can also take a bus from there if you want to, of course, it just takes 1.5 hours instead of 30 minutes to go from Desenzano to Verona.

From Salo to Desenzano you can either take a bus or the ferry. I would personally take the ferry as I love to sail. In the "Salo link" below is a video I recorded when arriving from Desenzano to Saló via the ferry.
